CAPSTONE COURSEWORK

Abstract

New Orleans’ jazz culture is very significant and prominent in the southern region because the city is the place of origin of the genre. The Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music was founded in 1990 by well-known saxophonist Edward “Kidd” Jordan to provide students with a free education on the history of jazz music, teaching them how to play music written by great musicians from New Orleans and providing them with opportunities to perform at events around the city. The multimedia blog about the school provides a platform for the students and teachers to share their experiences and the role the school plays in their lives. Their stories were communicated through a series of feature stories and visuals based on extensive interviews and observation.

Feature Stories

The blog consisted of seven feature stories. One feature story highlights the school as a whole. Three students and three teachers were highlighted on the blog, in which they shared their experiences they've had while at the school.
